What a Head Spa Scalp Treatment Does for You

Leave with a scalp that feels clean at the roots, hair that feels soft, and a head that feels a lot less tense. Our head spa in Powell, Ohio welcomes clients from Columbus, Dublin and Delaware, and each visit is built from what your scalp shows that day.

Starts with a look

Adult sessions open with an analysis, so buildup, dryness or excess oil decide the products and the order of steps.

Real cleansing

Exfoliation and a detox or clarifying cleanse lift the residue that everyday shampoo leaves behind.

Time to unwind

Each head spa includes massage, and the longer sessions add steam, aromatherapy and, in the Luxury, a neck and shoulder massage.

Private room, warm water

Your head spa is done in a private room, with warm water. The no-wash visit keeps that privacy, skips the water and leaves your style intact.

Inside a full med spa

Pair your visit with a facial, IV hydration or a brow and lash appointment under the same roof.

How It Works: Starting With a Scalp Analysis

Here is the order an adult head spa follows, from the first look to the final rinse.

Head spa scalp massage in progress at the gold-ring basin at The Confidence Lab in Powell, Ohio
01

Scalp Analysis

The specialist starts by examining your scalp for buildup, dryness, oil and irritation, and talks you through what they see. That check decides which exfoliant, cleanser and serum get used, so the visit fits your scalp rather than a script.

02

Exfoliate and Cleanse

Exfoliation loosens dead skin and product residue, then a detox or clarifying cleanse rinses it away. In the no-wash session this step becomes an optional dry exfoliation, so your hair stays dry and your style stays exactly where you left it.

03

Treat and Massage

Serum and hydration go on next, joined in the longer sessions by steam, aromatherapy, a conditioning mask or red light. Slow massage runs through this stretch, keeping circulation moving and letting built-up tension ease off.

04

Rinse and Plan

A hydrating or nourishing rinse finishes the wet sessions and leaves hair soft and easy to comb. Before you leave, we suggest a couple of at-home habits and a sensible spacing for your next visit.

Before, During and After Your Head Spa

Before
  • Come with your hair as it is. There is no need to wash or style first, since clearing oil and residue is part of the visit.
  • Booked the no-wash session? Arrive with dry hair, styled however you like.
  • Mention any fragrance or product sensitivity at booking, along with any recent scalp procedure or color service.
During
  • You stay fully clothed and reclined while the specialist works on your scalp, and in the Luxury your neck and shoulders too.
  • They check in on pressure and water temperature as they go, so say the word if you want anything changed.
  • Talk or stay quiet, whichever helps you relax. Plenty of people drift off partway through.
After
  • A wet session ends with a rinse, so plan to air dry or style at home unless you add a blowout.
  • Go easy on dry shampoo and heavy styling products for a day or so.
  • Ask about the right spacing for your next visit before you head out.

When Will I Notice a Difference?

Comfort comes first. Scalp balance follows with regular visits.

Same day

Your scalp feels clean at the roots, your hair feels softer, and the massage leaves you noticeably more relaxed on the drive home.

First week

Many clients notice less itch and less visible flaking, since the buildup feeding it has been cleared away.

After a few visits

With a steady rhythm, oil and dryness tend to even out, and your scalp stops swinging between greasy and tight.

Ongoing

Regular visits help hold that balance. Results differ from person to person, and the plan is adjusted as your scalp changes.

Headspa and Head Spa Questions

What is a headspa or head spa, and how much does it cost?
Headspa and head spa are the same visit, just spelled two ways. It is a scalp treatment that combines cleansing, exfoliation and massage to clear buildup and ease tension. Ours uses Japanese-inspired technique, and adult sessions open with a scalp analysis. An Essential costs $125, the no-wash option $85, and the Luxury, our longest visit, $249.
Which head spa should I book for my first visit?
The Essential is the easiest first booking: a complete first visit in 45 minutes. Pick the Signature if buildup or flaking is your main concern, or the no-wash option if you would rather keep your style. Still unsure? Book the Essential and we will suggest what to try next.
Will I need to restyle my hair afterward?
A wet head spa finishes with a rinse, so your hair will not leave styled. To walk out ready for plans, add a blowout or book the dry session, which uses no water and leaves your style untouched. A free afternoon is the easiest time for a wet visit.
Is a head spa done in a private room?
Yes. Your head spa is done in a private room, with warm water. The no-wash session keeps the same privacy and skips the water. If you want pressure or water temperature changed, say so and the specialist will adjust as the visit goes.
How long does a head spa take?
It depends on what you book. The youth visit runs 30 minutes; the Essential, the dry visit and both Express visits run 45; the Signature and the men’s session run 60; and the Luxury runs 110 minutes. Leave a few extra minutes for check-in.
How much is the Luxury Head Spa, and what does it add?
The Luxury runs 110 minutes for $249. It is the only visit on the menu with high frequency, cryo and red light, and it adds a deep conditioning mask, a serum infusion and our longest massage, including the neck and shoulders. Book it for a special occasion.
What does a dry head spa cost, and how does it work?
This session costs $85 for 45 minutes and uses no water. The specialist looks at your scalp, applies a targeted serum and spends most of the visit on massage with pressure point therapy, with dry exfoliation and aromatherapy as options. Your blowout stays exactly as it was.
Is there a head spa for men, and what does it cost?
Yes. The Mane Event costs $165 for 60 minutes and is planned around oil imbalance, buildup and early thinning. It includes a targeted exfoliation, a clarifying cleanse, hydration therapy, a serum and circulation-focused massage, plus thinning support on request. Men are welcome to book any other session too.
Can kids get a head spa, and how much is it?
Yes. Our youth visit runs 30 minutes for ages 10 to 16, priced at $79. It includes a gentle scalp cleanse, a light massage and simple tips for scalp care at home, and it is easy to book on the same day as your own appointment.
How often should I get a head spa?
For general upkeep, every four to six weeks is a common rhythm. If you are working on flaking, oil or buildup, closer spacing at first can help, and the gap can stretch once your scalp settles. Your specialist can recommend a schedule at the end of each visit.
Can a head spa help with dandruff or an itchy scalp?
It can help when flaking and itch come from buildup, dryness or excess oil. Exfoliation and cleansing clear what is irritating the scalp, and hydration helps calm it. If anything during the analysis needs a closer look, the specialist will talk it through with you and keep the visit gentle.
Will a head spa help with hair thinning?
A head spa does not regrow hair, but it does care for the scalp your hair grows from. Clearing buildup and circulation-focused massage leave the scalp cleaner and healthier-feeling, and the men’s session offers thinning support. If thinning is your main concern, mention it at booking so we can plan around it.
Does a head spa hurt?
No. The cleanse feels like warm water and slow fingertip pressure, and the massage is adjusted to what feels good to you. In the Luxury, cryo feels cool, high frequency gives a light tingle and red light feels warm. Ask for lighter or firmer pressure at any point.
Can I add extras to my head spa?
Yes. Add-ons include Advanced Scalp Stimulation, Red Light Therapy, Hair Glossing, a blowout, an Arm and Hand Massage, an Ice Globe Facial Massage, Dermaplane and CO2Lift. Ask at booking or at the start of your visit which ones pair best with the session you chose.
Is a head spa included in the VIP membership?
It can be. VIP members choose a monthly benefit, and the Essential session is one of the options, alongside other services. Members also get savings on most services across the med spa. See VIP membership for the full details and current terms.
Is a head spa okay for color-treated hair?
Yes. Tell us about any recent color, keratin or perm service so the specialist can choose gentle products that are kind to your color. If a chemical service is coming up soon, mention the date at booking and we will advise on how to space the two appointments.
What makes a head spa here different?
The head spa sits inside a full-service med spa, so you can pair it with a facial, IV hydration or a brow and lash appointment under one roof. Most visits begin with a look at your scalp, and the menu runs from a no-wash visit to the 110-minute Luxury.
Who performs the head spa?
All services are performed by board-certified or licensed providers. You can meet the team who care for head spa clients further down this page, read their full bios on our About page, and mention a preference at booking if you have one.
How do I book a head spa?
Book online: choose your session, pick a time, add your details, and a card on file holds your spot. If you would rather talk it through first, call (614) 219-9983 and we will help you choose the visit that fits your scalp and your schedule.
